CLASSIC CAR SHOW - BROOKLANDS GARDEN CENTRE - SCHOLES - HOLMFIRTH

'BROOKLANDS REVISITED 2015'
A Classic Vehicle show at Brooklands Garden Centre, Scholes near Holmfirth - 30th  August 2015

I arrived just at opening time with some vehicles still to come as well as many people.  But I only had a short time to soak in the ambiance.  It looked to be a really good event and with the decent weather of the day I am sure it would be a great success.  The whole point was to raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance which is a charity and like the RNLI, a vital facility for saving life.

The local paper reported thus -
“Nick Ryder, one of the organisers, said: “This goes back 20 years to 1995 when we organised a small gathering of car enthusiasts at Brooklands.
“We had a few cars in the corner of the field and there was so much interest that we repeated it for the next three years.
“Now we have had people coming up and asking when we were going to bring back the shows so we decided to do that.”

I am confused –
The Jaguar D-Type is a sports racing car that was produced by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1954 and 1957
This registration, LAJ611F was first registered during the period August 1967 to July 1968
I guess the D-Type was my favourite car here and I would like to think this one is a genuine one and not a replica, but there was no one to ask and it was badged Jaguar.  I suspect it must be a replica.  As a youth I drooled over a model of a D-Type as the most beautiful car design of the era and I just had to buy the one that I saw in a secondhand-shop window.  Copyright photo by David Swanbury

Interesting number plate.  My father had an Austin Heavy 12 which was GT7878.  For that it is worth the chap on the right is called Roy who had some old cars that were used in TV productions.

Well, well!  I once owned the red Fiat X1/9 VS Bertone for some years.  Now it has a notice in it that says it is for sale again.  One of the few rot-free ones.

A scale model of a steam wagon of 1920.  Looks like an Atkinson replica model but I never asked

I have a soft spot for Mini vans having had two in the distant past.  My first secondhand Mini van cost £25 and the second one from a motor auction was about £90.  Some time ago obviously.
