SHOCK WEATHER FORECAST - HOTTEST AUGUST IN 300 YEARS!

Another 'Shocking' prediction thanks to the Express

For the full sensational 'Shock' check out the link -

Daily Express Shock Weather Forecast article

It was in the Daily Express on the 31 July 2014 - so they left it until the last minute to publish the forecast - a 'shocking' August heat wave we haven't had or got at the time of writing - 19 August 2014.

They said, suitably illustrated - (nice pic by the way) -

The entire country will swelter in the highest summer temperatures for more than 300 years, putting even  firmly in the shade.

Forecasters say the UK heatwave in August will be the hottest in 300 years

The link below is just to jog your memory of what they 'reported' in November last year - another SHOCK!

Below were headlines in the Daily Express of 13th November 2013 and the 29th November 2013, presumably compliments of the Met Office long range forecast but no doubt suitably enhanced for sensationalism!

How wrong could they be!  Wrong!

August 19th today and it was 13C when I took the dogs out this morning and still was at 11am.  OK, so far it is sunny with cloud and a really lovely (May or October) fresh day just now, but I don't forecast it will stay that way all day.

I suppose those not in the UK don't understand our fixation and fascination with the weather, but it is so changeable that it rules our lives quite intimately given its fickle fluctuating unpredictable nature.

I am led to believe that Weather is quite distinct from Climate although I have a sneaking suspicion that they may be related in some way.  The short term issue for those who predict weather is that their error is very quickly recognised, but quickly forgotten as the next error takes its place.

With the new raft of 'climate scientists' predicting their version of doomsday, most of us, including them, will be dead and gone before there is a meaningful analysis of their predictions.  So it is pretty safe to make them and to bask in the recognition and rewards of the new religion and career opportunities of Climate Science.

I know we live in a dynamic environment and whilst we are pretty good at destroying each other in lumps here and there, and daily getting better at it, and annihilating anything else that moves, we have coped pretty well with a fluctuating climate historically and maybe the resilience of mankind and womankind will cope with the predicted consequences quite well.

As for the Express, maybe they just have bad sources!  I don't read it, but wonder why they do front page headline 'news' based on 'Shockingly' failed predictions of the weather forecasters they mention.   But there is still time during the next couple of weeks for a turnaround so I may yet eat my words. Now I will go and sit out in the sunshine.

Postscript - it was a miserable August and the forecast was totally wrong!
