JUDITH'S CVB 'DO' WITH A PUPPY CHRISTENING

Another event in the Colne Valley Beagles calendar was the garden party and Puppy Christening hosted on Sunday the 27th June by a CVB member in her lovely garden with a delicious luncheon and of course a bar.  The forecast for the weather of the day was accurate, and with sunshine for much of the time the rain scheduled for a 4:30 pm start was on time and by then most were well on their way home.

This lovely original painting of a mountain (Blue) hare is by Paula Vize   I haven't seen them quite so shaggy but then I haven't seen everything.   It really took my fancy.  Copyright image by David Swanbury

The first one reminds me of a slightly similar one on a Laura Ashley carrier bag by an artist called Sain Tezel who doesn’t like it being reproduced. Someone has it on the web though.  It doesn’t show it at its best due to the angle and I am not sure if the ears are quite as elongated as they appear here.  All the models I see of hares tend to have rather overly long ears and I think they must use Belgian hares to pose for them, which are a breed of fancy rabbits designed to look like hares.       Copyright image by David Swanbury

We were in the presence of greatness in more ways than one, at this venue, with an award winning game fisherwoman, acclaimed author etc., and a huge fish.    I was told that I ate some of this monster salmon at a previous event.   Copyright image by David Swanbury

The Bar, always a necessity.

At a glance, one would think some had been at it all day but it is still morning.   They say photographs can't lie - or do they?   Copyright image by David Swanbury

I was struck by the similarity of the lady to the right in blue, who I did not know, and the man on the right, which is not surprising since they are mother and son.  He is definitely a chip off the old block.      Copyright image by David Swanbury

Suffering the same way as the puppies I think but a bit more demonstrative.  He has a big role to play after lunch.

A Hero!

Well he must be because they stand like that don’t they?
Actually he is the official CVB bartender, but he can still be a hero.

More rest.  All the puppies have homes to go to live in until they are returned to the kennels next spring to join the pack.

Another very enjoyable CVB event.  What would we do without the CVB?

As for the weather, well at the time of writing it is streaming down.  Seen no sun today and the forecast for June being one of the three hottest months in a hundred years is so far, and yet again, completely and utterly wrong - well as far as June is concerned.  Here’s hoping for a hotter July and August to make up for it, although in moderation please.  I wonder when an official long range forecast was ever right? And yet they know what the whole world will be like in twenty or thirty years time.  Amazing.
