PENNINE FOXHOUNDS - PUPPY SHOW AND PUPPY CHRISTENING

The Pennine Foxhounds Puppy Show and Puppy Christening took place on the 7th July 2019.  This annual bit of tradition is where the puppies that have been walked to bring them to maturity are judged and the walkers awarded for their efforts.  It is also where the new puppies are given their names in the appropriate and time honoured way, to be judged next year as fully grown hounds.

The event took place in front of the local cricket pavillion and the weather provided a nice warm Yorkshire day.

The ceremony is conducted in the local dialect, an essential feature.  I think there is a translation on the web somewhere.  I suppose once upon a time all the born and bred locals spoke like this and it is wonderful that some still do.
