Malcolm and his wife Audrey, both no longer with us now, were active supporters of the Colne Valley Beagles dating back to the time when beagling enjoyed a significant following and support from the smaller local communities as they then were.  Many worked in the mills, engineering and the chemical works including often obligatory Saturday morning, so it was a relief for many to have a reason to enjoy the countryside in areas not normally accessible.  Exercise, fresh air and comradeship were part of the fabric of the local social life.  Malcolm was a Life Member of the Colne Valley Beagles and subsequently the Holme and Colne Valley Beagles.  He was a true gentleman and friend to many. He was a talented song writer and singer with a fine sense of humour and was a regular performer at the after-hunt sings and other functions.

Having lost his beloved Audrey on 28th July this year, Malcolm's passing probably marks the end of that generation of sportsmen who contributed so much and saw the transition from a close supportive pre-war and early post-war local community to that of the modern one of today.

Both Malcolm and Audrey will be sadly missed.  As they say, 'They don't make them like that any more'.
