I decided to check out Meltham Scarecrow Festival
as it was a nice day and I was reminded by passing a billboard on the road. Meltham is the next village to Holmfirth and
was the home of David Brown Tractors in its heyday.
It seems the festival is organised by the over 60’s
and clearly some entrants put a lot of effort into it. The pictures can speak for themselves. I am not sure that many were very scary for crows though. Here are a few of the competitors.
Meltham centre is basically a Tee junction. The car below, coming towards the camera, came straight out of the junction into a major road directly in front of a motorbike travelling up from the left and it was nearly a case of 'Sorry mate! Never saw you!' Fortunately the biker stopped but the car carried on regardless.
Looks like the judges are around.
The one on the right is the most realistic of all!
