MORE ROCKWOOD HARRIERS

Rockwood Harriers - 9th January 2019.

A midweek meet near Penistone with the Rockwood Harriers.  Chilly northerly wind with one mini snow flurry but pleasant for all that.

One hopes that when this infant grows up there will be the same opportunity for a lifestyle that is fast disappearing, but I wouldn't bank on it.

My last photo of the day before I ended up chatting, after reluctantly acknowledging that keeping up with horses when they move determinedly off into the far distance and then out of sight is not what I was designed to do.

Rockwood Harriers - 12th January 2019

A lawn meet.  Unfortunately it was a bit of a gloomy damp day but some are definitely keeping their spirits up.

Waiting for the hounds can be thirsty work.

I suppose it is rare for a photographer to be illustrated unless a selfie addict.  I think he is trailing the food!

The food was delicious and even a pedestrian like me was included in this superb hospitality.  The hot mulled wine was excellent and, I discovered later, was the same brand as some I supplied to friends at our 12th night do at home - ex M&S.  I had two!

The food just kept coming.  A butcher in Skelmanthorpe supplied the small pork pies which were warm and so very tasty that I enjoyed two quarters and a small sausage roll.

I wonder what the pony is thinking - has a wary eye.

Last but not least the bacon butties were divine, with the bacon cooked exactly as I like it with the fat slightly crisp.  Unusually this Whip is not sitting elegantly on a horse today (as he is above at the previous meet) and is hardly recognisable as the same person (to me) out of uniform and on foot.

Goodnight.  A superb Lawn Meet. An excellent day out.  I got a couple of very welcome lifts to help me on my way and hope I didn't leave any muddy marks in the vehicles.
