ON THE WAY HOME

On the way back from the Skipton towards Leeds is Rodley.  In fact just before Rodley is Calverley where this boat was moored.  I had passed it further down the cut on the way up but never took a photo and thought on the way home it was worth it for being a bit unusual.  It is an enclosed lifeboat with a bit added on the back to give an open deck.  It looks a bit unwieldy for the canal but someone is obviously moving it slowly onwards.  I have only seen one other so far of this particular type and it is on the bank at Stanley Ferry boatyard, still in its original orange livery and unmodified.

Woodlesford lock

Woodlesford lock is on the Aire and Calder and the place where a chainsaw artist creates his animals.

These are just some of them on the banks between Woodlesford and Fishpond Lock where there are some in a private garden.

Lemonroyd

The narrowboat, Isolda is heading towards Lemonroyd Lock just beyond the bridge.  Interestingly we met up for the first time since 1987 when the owners helped me along when I was going single handed up to Skipton.

Stanley Ferry - Calder and Hebble navigation

Somehow, whenever I have been on the way home it has always been a nice tranquil evening at Stanley Ferry near Wakefield.

That's it for this trip
