MIDGLEY MOOR

MIDGLEY

Midgley is above Mytholmroyd, not far from Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire.

Setting off from a local farm, the beagles spent Wednesday the 4th December high up on Midgley Moor.  Fortunately it was fine.  Lancashire over to the west did its best to send dark clouds over.  They seem to grow them there but they gradually broke up a bit as they came towards us, so there was some sun but often not shining on us.   The best bit was when we were setting off uphill to the moor.

The views were superb but still not entirely clear.  No wind below but quite a breeze from the west coming up over the edge here

There is a lot of standing about between long hikes

A little ray of sunshine - and I am not referring to the huntsman

There are some good footpaths and one is the Calder Way.  Mytholmroyd is in the bottom there.  A place prone to flooding. Apparently know by the locals as simply 'Royd'.  I have never found reason to stop there - just passed through to Hebden Bridge, but if you want to buy furniture there is a good store by the main road.

It is hard to escape from Emley Moor mast

It often became quite gloomy with cloud

The views were irresistible.  I have probably gone 'over the top' in putting so many on here

Stoodley Pike is in the distance  Stoodley Pike

On Saturday, 7th December it was dark and wet so I only took about one photo and have decided to stick it on here.  Doesn't really belong here but it sort of fits in.

Pretty moody stuff sometimes.  Maybe if I had Photoshop or something I could do things with views like this.  There was a little fit of light hail at one point

Sheep having their tea as I was passing to go home

Back to the farm and one of the working dogs that I was pleased had a short enough chain.
