Rockwood Harriers Hunt - End of season Lawn Meet

Today was the end of the season for both the Colne Valley Beagles and the Rockwood Harriers.   Unfortunately the CVB were trudging about on a dark cold rough moor so I chose to follow the Rockwood over the rolling green pastures and woodland where I rode and roamed in my youth and a bit later.  The other attraction was a superb ‘Lawn Meet’ which was well attended as one might expect. 

As a consequence of the last day of hunting for this season I took, and have posted, rather a lot of photographs.  At the end of here is a link to PhotoBox if anyone wants to get their own prints made and also a link to a short video of the Meet.  The ambiance of this video was rather ruined by the proximity of a voluble Border Terrier, one of several that attended, so turn the sound down a bit.

When I was a lad, a nice reclusive old lady lived here.  I think she was called Mrs Moore.  She was tiny, under five feet tall and very slight but sprightly.  She dressed in black in the style of the Victorian era, no doubt in authentic garments, with tight small button-up black boots.  She occasionally walked down to Denby Dale church for services there and they hoped she would remember the church in her Will as she was getting on a bit.  The weeping willow looks lovely in the summer and on the face of it nothing has changed since she lived there.

Going Home

I really slipped up with this shot.  I could see it coming but pressed the shutter too soon.  The desperate hound was in flight to get the remaining sausage rolls, knocking them off the tray onto the road to gobble them up.

I enjoyed my day out very much.  After this I lost them again and gave up but I appreciated the odd lift and the bits of information to help me keep in touch.  So as promised here is the You Tube video link Lawn Meet Video And here is the link to where all the above and maybe the odd extra one as well -
