Billy
Busfield was a huntsman of the Pennine Foxhounds who tragically and
unexpectedly died quite young many years ago. His
widow perpetuated his memory with an annual singing competition providing an
award for the winner. This locality and
the local hunts are well known for singing, several going on to do the folk circuit and
making records. I think historically,
localities of hardship and manual work brought out the singing gene and it still
lingers around these valleys.
So after a Puppy Christening, (on another Post of
pictures here), the CVB had a Singing Competition and general social gathering in one
of our favourite local hostelries. Ok, this doesn't show a lot of singing as much as the people there and I thought there were too many images to include on the Puppy Christening post
